King David’s Lord (Luke 20:41-21:4)

King David’s Lord (Luke 20:41-21:4)

In this passage, Jesus goes on the offensive to definitively demonstrate that he is the Christ, and as such, carries all the authority of the Lord. Just as King David recognized his own “son” as his King, so we too must acknowledge Jesus as Lord. And if he is Lord of eternity, how does one respond to him now? This is the question that each one must ask. We cannot be satisfied to ignore the claims of Jesus. If Jesus is the Lord of eternity, we must know if we are in alignment or opposition.

In contrast to the Pharisees, the lowly widow stands as the example of one who had given her entire life wholly to God.
