An Endless Hallelujah (Psalm 146)

An Endless Hallelujah (Psalm 146)

Previously we covered Psalm 91, two weeks back, revealing the LORD as our fortress and refuge, who opens the path to courageous living for those covered by the shadow of the Almighty, and then last Sunday, we looked at Psalm 96, revealing the LORD as the King who reigns, giving content to our mission as the King’s people, to proclaim with gladness his glorious salvation among the nations. And this morning we turn this morning to Psalm 146, which begins the conclusion to the book of Psalms.

Psalms 146-150, a chorus of five “hallelujah” or “praise the Lord” psalms, form a denouement to the five books, a climax, culmination, resolution, finale, celebrating with great praise the whole of God and his works.

And so, in Psalm 146, the psalmist calls for God’s people, and even all humanity, to live a life marked by unceasing praise to the LORD.
