The LORD’s Unseen Faithfulness (Genesis 29:1-35)

The LORD’s Unseen Faithfulness (Genesis 29:1-35)

(NOTE: The audio track is a bit muted, so it may be difficult to hear)

And unbeknownst to her (though understood by the first readers of this passage, the nation of Israel as they set their minds to leave the desert and enter the promised land), the LORD was working in her circumstances to fulfill his promises. Not only would Jacob’s line continue and produce a great number of descendants, but the descendants of two of her sons would be the lineage that fulfilled God’s promise that Jacob’s descendants would be a blessing to all the families of the earth.

First, from Levi, attached, we will come to see the tribe of the Levites, the priests, whose role would be to “attach” the hearts of people to their God.

Second, through Judah, we will come to see a King, the Lion of Judah, that has conquered, who receives the praise of every living thing and all the host of heaven; a king who brings every blessing to his people (Revelation 5).

And what we see and learn in this narrative, is that…

TRUTH: Even as his people are slow to acknowledge his presence, God acts covertly to bring his word to fruition.
