Salvation is for the Righteous (Luke 18:15-30)

Salvation is for the Righteous (Luke 18:15-30)

To live in the place where the living God dwells requires righteousness. Such righteousness is only present in God and therefore requires absolute dependence on God for his righteousness. But the human heart is so full of self-worshiping idolatry that we cannot do righteously nor bring ourselves to depend on God for what we need.

The work of bringing a human into a relationship with God by which a human can see and love God with all their heart is a sovereign work of God’s mercy and grace which is an impossibly impossible impossibility according to human strength.

When we enter by God’s mercy in to a relationship with the righteous God, righteous people live righteously, following all the commands of their Lord by the same mercy and grace that brought them to God. We do so in the context of relationship with God and for the joy and unity of the relationship.
