Protected Covenant Blessings (Genesis 25:1-18)

God’s covenant people live in surety of God’s covenant promises even in the presence of many enemies

Psalm 23:5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies;

David’s enemies are powerless to prevent David from experiencing the bounty of God’s overflowing blessings.

This was the case with Isaac. While Isaac inherits the land, receives the full inheritance from Abraham, and dwells in Beer-lahai-roi, his enemies are cast out.

This is good news for us, those who are sons and daughters of the Most High God, inheritors of a new covenant by the blood of God’s own Son. Whoever descends from Jesus has no enemies who will come near to usurp the covenant.

Just as Isaac lived in surety of God’s covenant promises as the son of promise, how much more those who descend from THE promised Messiah? Just as Isaac lived in surety of God’s covenant promises as the promised son of Abraham, the man of faith, how much more those who descend from THE son, the author and finisher of faith?

God’s covenant promises are sure and therefore we can walk in bold confidence, having surety of all promises of the covenant.
