One Year Closer to Death (1 Peter 4:7-11)

We are in the waning hours of another year. One more year passed. One year closer to death. That’s a sobering thought. You only receive 80 of these so-called years, on average. Some significantly less. Others marginally more. Regardless of how many you receive, they are gone before you know it.

The Lord indicates that wisdom is required to understand death and live these passing days accordingly, knowing there are consequences to a life lived.

That’s the theme of Psalm 90.

A vast majority of people live without concern for eternity, as though eternity carries no consequences.

Which is strange. We don’t live this life as though there are no consequences. Why would we live as though eternity carries no consequences?
