Led by the Faithfulness of God (Genesis 13:1-18)

Led by the Faithfulness of God (Genesis 13:1-18)

But for the righteous, we have a promise that God leads us even when we exhibit foolishness in regard to his promises.

Psalm 73:21-24 When my soul was embittered, when I was pricked in heart, I was brutish and ignorant; I was like a beast toward You. Nevertheless, I am continually with You; You hold my right hand. You guide me with your counsel, and afterward You will receive me to glory.

Calling upon the Lord is an act of trust, of displaying dependence. The Psalmists called upon the name of the Lord.

The righteous have failings. Perfection is not a mark of the righteous. But the righteous always return to the Lord, remembering from whom their salvation comes. The question is not, “how perfect have I been?” The question is, “where do take refuge?”

Psalm 71:1-2 In you, O LORD, do I take refuge; let me never be put to shame!  2 In your righteousness deliver me and rescue me; incline your ear to me, and save me!

The Lord has a way of bringing us through days and seasons of testing in order to expose the foolishness of self-sufficiency and expose the wisdom of dependence. Dependence is a mark of eternity. For it is the Lord who takes his children by the hand and leads them to eternal glory.
