Heaven as the Hope for Mission (Revelation 7:9-17)

Heaven as the Hope for Mission (Revelation 7:9-17)

In a sealed future, the King dwells in all his fullness with a multitude of redeemed people who washed themselves clean in the blood of the Lamb

This is not merely a statement of future hope, as though we simply sit around looking forward to that day. More than that, John’s revelation necessitates a present alignment with the future reality. There are many implications to this verdict, but with the Christmas theme of the Incarnation and Mission of God in mind, I conclude that the future reality of heaven demands mission now.

If this this future reality of heaven is guaranteed, then we have hope for mission, knowing the success of our efforts. Success is a guarantee.

The church confidently and zealously declares the atonement of God because of the future glory of the redeemed in Heaven.
