February 8, Sunday Service of Worship (Mark 10:46-52, Receiving Sight to Follow Jesus)

Mark 10:50And throwing off his cloak, he sprang up and came to Jesus.

This guy is not wasting any time getting to Jesus. Are you wasting time getting to Jesus?

Every morning, or nearly every morning, there’s a few neighbors that walk by the house each day. Imagine that was Jesus of Nazareth, the Son of David, the Merciful One passing by each day, ready to lead, ready to walk the day’s path with you following close behind. “The day’s here; let’s go!”

How quick am I to get up and see about Jesus? How quick are you to get up and see about Jesus?

Jesus is out there walking his path, waiting for people to join him.

Mark 10:51 And Jesus said to him, “What do you want me to do for you?” And the blind man said to him, “Rabbi, let me recover my sight.”

Imagine you had an open question from Jesus. “What do you want me to do for you?” What would you ask? What do you ask?

The blind man asks for sight. But this is not your ordinary request for good health, more a miracle, to have a functioning body. Why does the man ask for sight? What does the man want to see? Does he want to see the sunrise? No, he wants sight. To see. To see in the full meaning of seeing.

Mark 10:52 And Jesus said to him, “Go your way; your faith has made you well.” And immediately he recovered his sight and followed him on the way.

What does the man do with his newfound sight? Followed Jesus on the way. This man understood the directions on the box…
