…Mark 14:8-9She has done what she could; she has anointed my body beforehand for burial. 9 And truly, I say to you, wherever the gospel is proclaimed in the whole world, what she has done will be told in memory of her.”
Genuine devotion and allegiance to Christ only happens when a person first values the worth of the death of Christ. You must highly value the death of Christ to value Christ at all. When Jesus died, he died as the sufficient substitutionary sacrifice in your place. If you can’t see the worth of that, then you can’t see the worth of Christ. The woman understood, to some extent, the death of Christ. Thus, Jesus said, “wherever the gospel is proclaimed in the whole world, what she has done will be told in memory of her.” Jesus died, and that gospel is proclaimed, but also the act of this woman, because her act shows the value a person ought to place in the death of Christ.
