…A genuine confession of Jesus does not come easily. Confessing Jesus as the Christ only comes by the very power of God. When Peter confessed Jesus as the Christ, the Son of the living God, Jesus answered him and said that such was not revealed by flesh and blood, but my Father who is in heaven.
Think of all the things of the world that a person could learn in this life. And consider the great difficulty of forcing all that information into your mind. And this is only the stuff of the world, stuff the human mind can comprehend on its own. How will a man grasp the revelation of God in Christ with mere human intellect? No, it cannot be. Only God, by His own Spirit can give such a revelation. Ask God to do this work. And when he does, you must follow Jesus. And you must understand the nature of following Jesus. Jesus came to die on a cross and rise from the dead. A person is saved by Christ through his death and resurrection. So following Christ must be in accordance with that death and resurrection. Paul talks of being baptized into the death and resurrection of Christ, and being conformed to his death and resurrection. His death and resurrection frame our lives. It puts our life in Christ into the right perspective. Only in the death and resurrection of Christ do we have salvation, but also the right orientation for living…
