Mark opened his account with a simple headline, “the beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God.” I am going to take the long way around to get into the passage this morning, because I want to illuminate how the beginning of the Gospel of Jesus Christ is explicitly theological and showcases the necessity to hold fast to certain theological truths for the gospel to be the gospel. If you misunderstand the beginning, you will not reach the end.”
